RESTORATION
CHURCH OF CHRIST
Our Story
The church of Christ began on the Day of Pentecost in the First Century A.D. THIS congregation formed in 1861 and has remained a home for believers and a friend to our community.

Throughout our history, we have remained faithful to God’s word while adjusting our outreach as times have changed. In the 19th century, we were called the "Disciples of Christ". In the 20th century, "Scio Church of Christ" helped to clarify our identity. As we entered the 21st century, we wanted to recognize that our community reaches beyond Scio and to emphasize the restorative work that God does in His people and became “Restoration Church of Christ.”

We appreciate our past and we are excited to embrace our amazing future. We invite you to join us as we do!
Detailed Mission Statement
Our mission is to fervently live out and share the life-transforming Good News of Jesus Christ in our community and beyond. We aspire to establish a devoted and compassionate community, that is deeply inspired by the unity, fervor, and faithfulness of the first-century church as depicted in Acts 2:42-47. We remain rooted in God's Word, prayer, and the fellowship of believers, emphasizing selfless acts of service and generosity. We strive to provide a warm and welcoming environment where every individual is valued, nurtured, and equipped to reflect the love and grace of Christ in their daily lives. As ambassadors of His kingdom, we are dedicated to leading others towards an eternal relationship with Jesus Christ, revealing His hope, peace, and redemption in all that we do.
Detailed Vision Statement
Our vision is to shine as a beacon of Christ's unconditional love and transformative grace within our rural community. We seek to inspire a revival of faith that reverberates through every home and heart, leading individuals towards an everlasting relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ. By adhering to Apostolic teachings and principles, we intend to nurture a spiritually enriched congregation that is resilient in faith, fervent in prayer, and bound by a common purpose. Our vision extends beyond the four walls of our church, aiming to serve and uplift those in need with the same love and sincerity that Christ demonstrated. As we continually strive to mirror the hope and redemption found in Christ's sacrifice, our aim is to see every believer growing spiritually, actively participating in joyful worship, and using their unique gifts for the glory of God. We envision a future where our church's influence resonates within our community and beyond, fostering peace, unity, faith, and an undeniable awareness of God's presence.
Detailed Values
The Bible teaches that God completed the WORK of SALVATION through the blood of Jesus on the cross and His defeat of death in His resurrection. However, He HAS also called us to RESPOND to His offer of SALVATION by confessing His name as Savior (Romans 10:8-13), repenting of our sins (Acts 2:37-38 & 3:19), submitting to baptism (Romans 6:1-11), and to living by faith (Galatians 2:20).
